Achieving Peace of Mind
In order to lead a better, more stress free, and peaceful life one must achieve personal peace of mind. If an individual is content with themselves, their motives, and their ambitions happiness is reached and the key to an overall better life is found. So many people are caught up in the materialistic aspects of life and focused on the wrong characteristics of life. A focus on money, work, grades, or pleasing others will easily lead to stress or unhappiness. Thus, one must let go and live, in order to achieve peace of mind, contentment, and true happiness.
Forget the Materialistic
The majority of people on this earth are concerned with material items or tangible objects, sometimes even more than the intangible characteristics of life like experiences, happiness, or moments. Many people are concerned with money, this is because society has gradually put money first before everything else; the main goal of life is always to achieve wealth, or people usually associate success with a well-paying job. However, money is only paper and there is way too much of an emphasis put on it in modern day society.
People have become obsessive over money because money buys what they want. Paper buys even more useless material that people want to have. An emphasis on material objects has grown excessively over the years where people are now only concerned with the latest and greatest inventions and finding a way to make more money in order to get them; these are the modern motives of many people that need to change.
Focus on the Moment
Materialistic, tangibile items can usually be replaced, however moments and experiences can not, that is why there should be a larger focus on the details of life that can not be replaced rather than items that can be bought. Moments with friends and family are far more important than anything money could buy because tomorrow is never guaranteed nor are the people who could be in it. Which is why there needs to be an emphasis on treating everyone as if they shall die at midnight, and even living each day as if it is the last; this is the only way people will be able to seize the moment and finally focus on life that is happening rather than paying attention to materials.
Moments can never be replaced or gotten back once they have happened, a first time will never again be "the first time," in life people get a certain amount of "firsts" therefore an emphasis on them should be bigger than an emphasis on money to buy items. Sometimes, certain people are only in an individual's life for a mere moment which again, is why each moment of every day should be seized and made the most of.
Live for the Experience
Similar to moments, people should live for life experiences. Experiences only happen one time, and every once in a while a breathtaking one occurs and if it is missed there is not an opportunity to get it back. People in society also need to slow down, calm down, and take time to focus on experiences spent with friends, family, or even in solitude. A lot of people are so caught up in jobs, making money, buying items, getting A's in school, and they are all just going through the motions day after day instead of making the most of everyday and just stopping to realize how great life can be, it is just solely what the individual makes of it.

How Different would People be If...
It is interesting to think about how different life would be and how differently people would act and react to situations if they took time out of the day to meditate, look at the stars each night, make music, laugh, take a walk, or even just spend time outdoors. What if people took thirty minutes out of everyday to focus on inner peace of their own minds, they sat in silence and cleansed their minds of the toxins of society such as the focus on materialistic items or a focus on money and wealth.
People might act a lot differently if they looked at the stars each night also. If one takes in the vastness of the universe by gazing directly into it each night, opening an opportunity for thoughts and activity of the mind, people might view life a little bit differently. Solitude is also very important in achieving inner peace and finding out what lies in the deepest crevices of oneself. Knowing oneself and being content with it is the overall key to happiness, and with happiness comes a better life.
An Overall Better Life
As a whole, in order to achieve an overall better and happier lifestyle it is imperative that one digs deep into themselves and can find contentment. It is important that one does something everyday that they enjoy or brings about pure joy and happiness to their soul. Spending time outdoors and just taking time to think about anything enriches the brain and keeps it out of a mundane daily schedule. Meditation in order to find inner peace is another tactic to achieve pure joy and contentment with life. All in all, these few aspects to live by such as living in the moment and living for an experience rather than the materialistic will lead to an overall better, happier, and a more content and fulfilling lifestyle.
